As I near the end of my first trimester I am still feeling sick. I can tell that it's starting to improve, but I still have an almost constant queasy feeling. If I go too long without eating I start to get pretty ill. The constant headaches and exhaustion are getting old by now and I'm ready to move on to the second trimester. Which (for those of you who have never had twins) can best be compared to the third trimester with a singleton.
Last night Jason and I got a much-needed break. We swapped babysitting duties with a friend and so we watched her children on Friday while she and her husband went out. Then we went out last night. It was just dinner but it was only the 3rd time we've had a "date" in 6 1/2 years. We ate at the Macaroni Grill (my favorite) and stopped by Border's on the way home to grab some books. The kids were fine while we were gone and it was so wonderful to get away for just a little while.
After hearing my friends go on and on about Jessica Seinfeld's book Deceptively Delicious I was excited when a friend gave me her copy. The first recipe I tried was the mozzarella sticks and they were not the huge hit I'd hoped for with the kids. I loved them but they were not as crispy on the outside as M would have liked so that turned him off. Next I tried some chicken kabobs which again was not a big hit with the kids. Apparently my kids would rather eat plain veggies than have me hide them in their food! I'm going to keep experimenting though.
That's our news for now. I should have more to share after the u/s on Thursday. Oh, and here's a hilarious SNL skit that I have to share. Don't you just love all those drug company ads on TV these days?
