We are here with Jason and the kids are thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. Is it a coincidence that Leila is miraculously pooping in the potty again after a 6-week hiatus? I think not!
Before I forget, for those of you wondering about a use for extra breastmilk, check out www.milkshare.com. I have done private milk donation before and sometimes there are mothers in need of milk right in your area. I will have to write a post about that sometime. (My milk has actually fed 12 babies so far!)
When we first arrived yesterday Jason could not leave their sight or the kids would become hysterical. Leila collapsed into a sobbing mess when he went to get something out of his car on the other side of the parking lot.
Although the children and I are happy to spend time with Jason, I think Jason has gotten used to the single life a little too much. He is grumpy and short with the kids and has no patience with the babies. He's that way at home so I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I sort of expected him to overlook the obnoxiousness and just enjoy being with us.
Easier said than done, I'm sure, when you have 2 teething babies, 2 mischievous toddlers, and 2 energetic boys plus an excited black lab who is cooped up in a hotel room for the first time. Yes, it's loud. Yes, we are in tight quarters. It's quite a sight actually!
We are staying in a hotel suite that is supposed to sleep 3 people. It was the biggest room available for this weekend that had a kitchenette. We can't survive without a kitchen! Well, I suppose we could but we would go broke feeding everyone. So we booked this hotel and hoped that they would not notice the extra 5 people that were staying in the room. I am betting that some of you have run into this dilemma too! How do you travel and stay in hotels with multiple young children?
We actually have the babies in our bed (as usual) and the girls in the bedroom with us in pack & plays. The boys could be on the sleeper sofa but chose to use our own air mattress instead. We have enough room and nobody has said a word. Although I was amused by my friend's suggestion that we just take the kids inside separately. One of each set, in other words. Since Matthew and Joshua usually dress themselves in matching clothes and the 2 sets of twins are almost always dressed alike, we could have really confused the hotel staff. We'd be bringing in one of each set of twins and 1 big boy and then a few minutes later we'd bring in the rest. '"Wait, didn't the husband just bring in those 3 kids? And now the wife is coming in with the same 3 kids?" Hysterical! I think we should try it sometime.
I guess you could say that we are having a great time. At least some of us. The kids and I are thrilled and Jason is thrilled sometimes.
And other times... not so much.
Such is life when you are the father of multiple multiples, right?
