Nathan just crawled over to me as I was packing a bag for our trip. Then he stuck his butt up in the air as he's been doing for the last few weeks. But this time he did something different. He pushed up into a sitting position and then grinned at me. He hasn't stopped grinning since.I have so much I want to say and so many emails to answer. (I owe a thank you to the friends who helped me make it to the grocery store and the orthodontist this week!) But right now the only thing I can think about is seeing Jason. Tomorrow morning I'll be up before the sun comes up. And we'll hit the road, headed to Ft. Benning to see Daddy. It's like Christmas Eve and I feel like I'm a kid again, waiting for morning to arrive.
Today was the busiest of busy days. I was awake before the kids and started cleaning up the house. We actually had two showings this morning! I loaded up the kids and the dog and we went to church for an Easter egg hunt. It was a yucky, rainy day but we still had fun!
You should have seen what a sight we were. I was loading kid after kid into "The Beast" and getting drenched in the process. The rain was just pouring down in buckets and there was even thunder and lightning. I had an umbrella but gave it to Matthew and Joshua to share. By the time we made it all the way across the parking lot I looked like a wet rat. I was a mess.
Inside the church gym the kids enjoyed jumping in the moon bounce and doing various art projects. They each made an Easter card for Daddy that says "Some Bunny Loves You." I struggled to navigate my way through the crowd with my ginormous stroller. And then I realized that the egg hunt was upstairs. And there is no elevator. And even if there was I probably wouldn't fit anyway. So I carried both babies up the stairs while helping the girls climb up too.
When we got up to the egg hunt area they had separated it by age. I took the boys to their area first. They had a church member asking the children why we celebrate Easter and she quizzed them on their Biblical knowledge. I was so proud of Matthew when she asked "What did they give Jesus to drink on the cross?" Only one hand went up. Matthew answered, "vinegar." That boy has a photographic memory, I swear!
When the boys were finished we headed over to the little children's' area and the girls found their eggs. Then we went back downstairs and I piled everyone back into the stroller to head home.
Once we got home I had a friend over while her husband put the new ceramic tile down in the kids' bathroom. Then another friend who recently had twin boys stopped by to visit. And finally a friend and former doula client came over to meet with me for a prenatal. She's expecting her second child soon and I'm going to be at her birth again. After everyone left it was dinner time and then I had to clean everything up so that we can leave bright and early tomorrow.
I'm too excited to sleep!
