Just when I think things can't get any crazier... a tornado hits our house.
We returned home on Saturday just hours after an EF1 tornado touched down in our neighborhood. It hit 3 houses down from us, back over the lake that is behind our house. It moved up our street hitting 6 houses on our street before moving back into the woods surrounding the creek. Then it hit 10 more houses on the next street over.
Fortunately the damage was very minor. We all had some roof damage and have had to clean up a lot of debris. Our fence was damaged and we have about a dozen trees down in our backyard. Some of the trees are huge Georgia pine trees that stand over 40 feet tall! They were just snapped like twigs. I guess that is what happens when there are 105 mph winds.
I'm so glad that we weren't home and that all of our neighbors were safe too. I guess it's just my dumb luck that out of all of the many houses in this subdivision, we get hit. This is the second house that I've owned that has been hit by a tornado. We also owned a house in Maryland that was hit by Hurricane Isabelle and we had a tree come down just a couple of feet from Matthew's crib. I think trees must be attracted to me. Or maybe it's just that I attract chaos?
More later... We have another showing of our house this afternoon. This is the third one this week!
