Nathan and Ryan are 14 months old now and I am just as smitten as ever. Seriously, I love this age! They are just changing right before my eyes and it's so much fun!
These boys are talkative and love to repeat anything they hear. They take after their twin sisters who just never stopped talking for even a second once they figured it out. I wasn't sure what to expect with Nathan and Ryan since Matthew and Joshua were both late talkers. Matthew didn't speak until 27 months and Joshua didn't talk until closer to 3, but his speech was unintelligible until he had his surgery almost 2 years ago. Because Nathan and Ryan had their surgery earlier, I was praying that we had avoided any speech delays. And we did!
These guys love to talk and some things they like to say are:
Hi
Dada
Yuck
Up
No, No, No (must be said 3 times)
Bye
Mama
Cat
Naughty, Naughty (said like Borat... don't ask)
Ryan loves to give kisses with a full lip pucker. He loves to wave and he doesn't like to sit still for very long. He never nurses as much as Nathan and he's still a couple of pounds lighter than Nathan too. Ryan won't even try to walk. Heck, he doesn't even stand yet! When we talk to Jason on the video phone Ryan will actually come up and kiss the computer monitor. I think Jason was as moved as I was when we saw Ryan do that. Who says you can't bond even when you're thousands of miles apart?
Nathan is my comedian. He imitates anything and everything, especially if he thinks he'll get someone to laugh. He is a goof ball! Nathan caught up to Ryan in the tooth department and now they both have 8 teeth. Nathan stands up by himself and has recently started talking 2 or 3 steps on his own. It's so strange having late walkers after having 4 early walkers. I love it! It's much easier to keep track of them when they can't run away yet.
These guys are the apples of my eye. Even if they don't sleep. Ever. In all honesty, I have no idea how I function on so little sleep. But I do. Nathan wakes several (usually more than 5) times each night and Ryan wakes at least half as much. They are also early risers-yesterday they were both up before the sun came up. They're just so sweet that I can almost overlook my chronic exhaustion.
Oh, I love this age!
